Hello friends sorry I missed last week but I was really busy painting for the Civil War Demonstration this week end (Sat Jun. 9 and Jun. Sun 10 2009 ) This event is hosted by Nottoway Antiques at Nottoway Courthouse Virginia. I am looking forward to the demonstrations Nottoway County like most of Virginia had part of the battle here. Athough the painting I am talking on was of the battle for High Bridge in Prince Edward County.High Bridge was important for Lee’s retreat.as well a supply line for both side North and South.

Carson Store is a panting of a old store in Nottoway court house. It was build in the 30s by the Carson family. Today the home of Nottoway Antiques I add the Sign on it to make it a little more interesting .The country store was the meeting place to get needed supplies, as well as local news. A place where people woud come just to sit around and talk. Many life long freindships were made at though old country store On every back road. you coud find one , or some the only means of getting household items.You needed it they had it from tire for your car (if you had one) to water buckets.If they did not have it they coud get it.Thank God for thoughs country store.Contry store was the way to find where someone live. When you would ask people that lived out on a contry road they would quickly say a mile or so from so and so store. well i have gett back to work.
