What can I do?

There are many ways you can participate in Blackstone Chronicles, and the list should grow as we discover new possibilities.

For a start:

(1) Write a story about a person, either family member or not, that has made a positive impression on Blackstone. You may know someone who deserves to be recognized but certainly won’t toot their own horn. If someone has just passed away, this is a good time to share some memories of him or her.

(2) Write some of your recollections about Blackstone, either as a stand alone piece or a comment on another story that you can embellish.

(3) Write a column about anything you are interested in and have something to share. The column can be submitted as often as you want. You need a title so readers can follow you. If you are an artist or photographer you can have a column that displays your work, and it would be helpful if you commented on any work, perhaps explaining how that work inspired you or what meaning you see in it. Let you column kind of drip your work out so people will have something to look forward to. If you like to cook, have a recipe column. If you want to offer advice, have an advice column. Everyone has something that interests them. Everyone has something valuable to share.

(4) There are four divisions in the content of Chronicles, the past and the present, civic life, and lifestyle. Yesterday in Blackstone is for your recollections of Blackstone past and memories of people that made an impression on your or the community. Today in Blackstone is for anything happening today. The topic is open as long as it is positive or informative. Civic, church, school and organizations is for you to report on your group, either as a one time article or a column that keeps us informed about what’s going on with your group. And finally, Lifestyle is about you and your interests. Are you are artist and would like to write about your art as you display your work? Do you have advice to give on some subject? Everyone has something of value to share, and this is the place for you to share that.

Here’s a truth: what you share gets stronger. What you give away gets bigger. What you let go of, makes you lighter. So don’t let the fear of what people will think if you step out from the crowd. As long as your intent is to help others be stronger, greater, and lighter, you can’t go wrong. Blackstone Chronicles will only run if you become the gas for its engine.
